My knowledge of B/C/S is somewhere between bad and horrible. ;-) Considering that I only rely on an internet version of a Serbo-Croatian dictionary, I recognize a fairly good amount of words; but not always in the correct context.
I really wish bablefish would add B/C/S to the list of languages they translate; of course considering the relatively small numbers of speakers of that language that seems highly unusual.
Luckily for me there are occasionally English translations of articles; especially archival articles from the Tuzla Night Owl; blurbs from various other sources etc. Even though these articles are several years old, I do read these articles.
And despite my very poor knowledge of the language, I've been frequenting several newspapers/magazines from the region, everything from tabloids like "Svet"-gotta keep up with Ceca ;-) to major newspapers.
Of the English language sources, I generally look at the IWPR, BIRN, and B92 for Balkan news and war crimes tribunal news.
From what I've read via translated articles, I've also liked what I've seen from BH Dani.
I've been reading a lot about the Balkan media, especially the Bosnian media. As there are several papers online analyzing the major newsmagazines and newspapers in BiH.
For those of you more familiar with the media in Bosnia and the Balkans, how would you analyze the major newspapers and magazines?
What are some of the best newspapers and magazines?
And in your opinion, why?
I realize that everyone has their own version of what they consider the "best" to mean; so I'm leaving the definition open ended.
Any thoughts and analysis on the media would be appreciated.
