"Grbavica" takes home more prizes

The flim, "Grbavica" has won another prize; this time the "Narrative Grand Jury Prize" at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles.

The film is Bosnia's entry for the 2006 Academy Awards.

Even better news (for me at least), in 2007, the film will be distributed in the US.

Last month, the film was honored by the Council of Europe as the winner of the "Human Rights Award" for "its handling and supporting of human rights and humanitarian issues at an international level."

We'll have to wait until April to see if Grbavica takes home the Oscar as well.

From the topic of your site, I wanted to inform you about this site I came across that delves into the power of people using video technology to record human rights abuse. They recently posted on a topic I thought you'd be interested in regarding use of video for conflict resolution in the former-Yugoslavia: http://www.globalvoicesonline.org/2006/11/06/former-yugoslavia-can-video-play-a-part-in-truth-justice-and-reconciliation/
