How much does a defense cost?

For Ante Gotovina, charged with crimes in relation to Operation Storm; the answer is 7.5 million kuna or, about 1 million Euros. According to his trust, the donors included the city council of Zagreb, his hometown of Zadar, Croatia Insurance and the partially state-run INA oil company.

Interesting comparison - Zagreb City Council forking out for Gotovina's defence while UK loses out on a specialist war crimes police unit because Metropolitan Police Authority (ie the police arm of the GLA, London's city council) and the Home Office can't agree who should pay for it.
