This is an article overview from a very interesting study looking at how different traumatic events, i.e. 9/11 and the siege of Sarajevo and how those events continue to effect how people store and remember personal memories and data.
According to the data, 9/11 did not have the impact on personal memory as it was originally predicted too.
In Sarajevo, in the context of a war that took place everyday for three years, that traumatic event is much more likely to effect references to personal memory/events.
