Interestingly, Time magazine selected Putin as the "Person of the Year". Yeah, they haven't taken into account his genocidal campaign running in Chechnya. Why would they? Same magazine placed Draza Mihailovich on it's frontpage during or after 2nd World War, and Mihailovich committed genocide against Bosniaks.
"Person of the Year" is not necearily a honor necessarily condoning the person's action. It is given to the person, or persons who have had the most influence that year. World leaders running the gauntlet have been Times "Person of the Year."
